Reticles
Eyepiece reticles are discs marked with scales and patterns,
which fit into the eyepiece at the plane of the intermediate
image. This is the position of the sample image produced by
the objective lens of the microscope.

The inclusion of a crossline assists in ensuring alignment
of the reticle with edges, etc. in the sample.
